Originally from England, Cricket is now popular in over 100 countries. How 100 other countries understood the rules is still anyone’s guess, but we digress…
Most of Cricket’s fans and bettors live in England, Australia, India, and Pakistan. Cricket betting is intense – almost as intense as the games and highly intense during any of the top names given countries playing with each other in any match or any cricket match series. Interestingly, cricket betting is more found to be taken place in countries like India and Pakistan where it’s illegal. England and Australia have relaxed rules toward betting on cricket matches, yet cricket betting is a pale shadow to its Asian neighbours. However, like most sports, all countries where it’s legal deny betting to anyone with direct involvement in the game.
Like in most cases where sport betting is illegal or undefined, bookies and online gambling sites step up to the plate ready to take anyone’s cricket bet. For bookies in India, the rewards on illegal bets are great and the risk is relatively low. Pay a small fine (usually gained from taking bets) and you’re on your way out of the jail. Legalization is currently being discussed in India, but it’s still a far way off. Pakistan currently has little hope to legalizing cricket bets due to the religious beliefs of its citizens.
Regardless of how you bet on cricket, the format is pretty simple. Cricket betting odds are usually given in fractional odds (sometimes known as British odds). For example, take the current CW Tri series going between India- Australia- Sri Lanka. The betters have 4/1 odds for Australia to win. This means you will win Rs.100 for every Rs25 you bet . On the other hand, Sri Lanka’s odds are 1/4 to win this series against mighty Australia so it gives you Rs.25 for every Rs.100 you put on. In these cases, odds are given in positive and negative currency amounts. According to latest news the match between India and Australia which India won had given a great blow to the betteors and betting industry. Report loss was more than Rs150 crores.
As expected, the winning team of the match is the most common bet. The World Cup and any series between two top teams is always liked by betters to bet upon.
People now days not only bet on their team wining or losing they even bet on who’ll win the toss, the match outcome (predicting the points), the top scorer, or even the Man (or Woman) of the Match and at what score the particular player would get out.
From past few matches for India all outside tournaments have gone really bad. They have finished on losing side, but bookies have always bet on Tendulkar’s 100ton.
Betting in India is illegal but still its been done all over country even though there are strict rules to curb it and stop these events to take place but punters and bookies they always find a better way to hide and successfully operate their task from the local cops or the special forces.
Today everyone is involved in illegal betting, saate baazi or as I say “it’s the best game for the predictors the predictor's game”, from small business man to big tycoons, from politicians to police persons, from college students to autorikshawala’s . Everyone is involved in big or small betting gamble.
But very few know that this is the one game which gives one a luxuries life in hours and days but it takes back everything in merely a minute.
This game(at least in India) will never finish, will never end but yes it will end you one day.
it is really very ironicao that on one hand people in India are dying of hunger and on the other people are spending money on things likd betting. This blogs tell the bitter end of the story very well written.
